Dallas Bible Church started 35 as a home church by a handful of families looking for something different than the traditional denominational liturgy. This was an upper middle-class group of people that created an environment promoting heartfelt worship, teaching of the Word, a strong emphasis on prayer, and authentic living in community. In 1999 the church moved to their current location, which is immediately bordered by lower income apartments has changed the culture of the church in a wonderful way. During the past ten years has been seen an eagerness to reach the community around them meeting the needs with more of an outreach mindset. Beyond their immediate neighbors, they have a thriving community of young families as well as established families that have lived in the area for years. As a result there has been a significant influx of young families joining the church. Although the faces have changed to be more diverse culturally, generationally, and economically, the heart of Dallas Bible has not changed and still invites the same warm welcome to those looking for authenticity and a church home to be able to connect and serve in.
The Lead Pastor will shepherd (preach, teach, disciple, lead, and serve) the people of God at Dallas Bible Church so that they might become more like Jesus Christ as a local New Testament church (Ephesians 4.11-13). His role is born out of the spiritual authority of the Elders in recognition of his calling and God’s work in his life. The Lead Pastor will deliver regular sermons and oversee general vision and direction of worship experiences and initiatives. Through their role on the elder board, they will champion the church both individually and corporately to live out Jesus’ command Love All and Help All Follow Jesus (Great Command and Great Commission). They will provide oversight into the Worship, Grow, Serve, and Go rhythms of Dallas Bible Church ensuring a transformative ministry occurs both within the congregation and into the larger community.
