About This Organization

Temple Christian School’s (TCS) primary goal is to train a generation of young people whose desire is to change the world with the power of the Gospel. TCS serves students from Pre-K all the way to 12th grade.

Founded by Temple Baptist Church in 1973, this is a school community which is decidedly different and distinctively Christian. As a ministry of the church, Temple sits on a 29-acre campus also shared with Temple Days Daycare & Preschool.

Position Description

TCS is a church led school with the Pastor leading the overall vision and mission and the Head of School running all the day-to-day operations, both with accountability to the School Board (Leadership Team of Temple Baptist Church). The Head of School (HOS) is responsible for managing the school and providing leadership for the overall success of the school program.

The role includes responsibility for all TCS educational and managerial functions. Most importantly, the HOS will spend considerable time communicating with parents, faculty and staff, students, donors and other stakeholders in a manner which would build trust and demonstrate TCS’s stability and strengths for the future.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Executive Leadership: Oversees the mission, vision, core values, and expected student outcomes of the school and intentionally keeps them in front of the community consistently.
  • Spiritual Leadership: Ensures biblical worldview immersion is occurring throughout the school community. Leads, motivates, guides and directs the staff in the area of spiritual growth.
  • Church Relationship: Attends and serves as an associate pastor of Temple Baptist Church and works with the Senior Pastor to ensure a harmonious church/school relationship.
  • Board Relationship: Collaborates with the Senior Pastor to plan board meetings. Prepares material and delivers in advance for meetings. Attends School Board meetings and informs and advises the School Board.
  • Financial Stewardship: Leads the visionary work of tuition, salary, and budget. Works with administrative pastor on setting school budget and assures proper implementation of approved budget by board.
  • Educational Leadership and Curriculum: Has robust knowledge of the latest curriculum trends, practices, and legislation impacting the school Oversees the development and implementation of academic requirements to continue to drive excellence.
  • Accreditation: Leads and oversees accreditation process of school. Is one of the accreditation commissioners for ACTABS and works with the organization.
  • Faculty: Hires all administrators and has final say on all other employee hires within the school. Ensures the hiring of qualified and competent personnel. Oversees teacher evaluation by administration as well as parent and student surveys. Oversees ACSI Flourishing Schools Survey.
  • Facilities: Works with administrative pastor to oversee school facilities on church campus. Determines short and long-range needs and works with administrative pastor for implementation of construction, operation, and maintenance programs.
  • External Communication: Listens intently and develops communication strategies that would: reengage disgruntled parents and staff; provide opportunities for stakeholder input; provide healing; communicate strengths of TCS; and demonstrate stability of leadership.
  • General Management: Takes necessary steps to ensure the safety and welfare of students and employees. Supervises the maintenance of records for the school, including financial accounts, business and property records, personnel, scholastic and school population records.
  • Teaching: Teaches at least one class on the secondary level
