With the school, Dream Center, and additional campus, the reach to the community continues to grow.

The church is located between Tampa and Orlando, FL. Lakeland has been recognized as an “All American City.” It’s a friendly mid-size city of 150,000, with all of the amenities desired for a quality life.

About This Organization

Victory Church launched in March 1989. From day one, the church has had a heart to reach lost people. Victory is truly known as Lakeland’s ‘community church’. In 2006 Victory launched the South Campus which is thriving today as they meet in a movie theater.

Victory is averaging about 2500 in weekend attendance. They occupy 170,000 square ft of permanent buildings, located on 85 acres.

Every person is encouraged to live a life of personal evangelism. Victory gives about $1.5 million each year to advance the gospel locally and globally. They support 240 missionaries around the world, and partner with 47 missional organizations. The Dream Center and inner-city Kids Club program are known city-wide for having a tremendous impact on the community.

Position Description

Victory Church is currently seeking a Comptroller to join the movement of what God is doing in and through this ministry and its leaders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of the financial affairs of Victory Church, VCA, and Dream Center.
  • Ensure adherence to Victory Church’s financial policy.
  • Have a strong understanding and be able to ensure adherence to GAAP and IRS guidelines.
  • Oversee all income processes:
  • Collect, and process, and record all contributions, fees, and tuition.
  • Process and acknowledge all non-cash contributions.
  • Collect and process all registrations, leases, rents, and other misc. income.
  • Manage physical and remote bank deposits.
  • Respond to questions from the congregation regarding their giving statements.
  • Oversee the expenditure processes:
  • Oversee expense reimbursements.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable invoices.
  • Oversee all contractor payments (1099).
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting and disbursement of missionaries’ support.
  • Review and approve wire transfers as needed.
  • Issue year-end 1099 forms.
  • Oversee financial reporting:
  • Financial/managerial reporting to CFO.
  • Managerial reporting to budget owners.
  • Managerial reporting as needed.
  • Financial reporting to outside agencies as needed.
  • Issue/mail giving statements to donors.
  • Oversee other financial support functions including:
  • Bank Account Reconciliation.
  • Budget and financial research.
  • Respond to accounting/finance questions from staff.
  • Complete credit applications for outside vendors as needed.
  • Oversee Accounting Department:
  • Lead, train, and equip the Counting Team
  • Ensure that the Accounting Department is working efficiently, and it is well resourced.
  • Oversee the annual audit process:
  • Ensure preparation for annual audit(s) is complete.
  • Be the main liaison to the contracted audit firm and field auditors.
  • Study draft financials for accuracy.

 

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

  • Loves Jesus and has a thriving faith walk
  • Affirming of Victory’s Statement of Faith
  • Attend Victory Church weekend worship services and chapel services regularly
  • Willing to become a member of Victory Church
  • Prefer BA or MA in Accounting
  • Minimum of 5 Years of Accounting Experience
  • A basic understanding of Microsoft Office
  • A proficient understanding of Microsoft Excel
  • A proficient understanding of Quickbooks
  • Highly competent in all aspects of General Accounting
