Position Description

The primary responsibility of the Pastor of Student Ministries is to provide catalytic leadership to the student ministry of The Table Church, helping to envision, strategize, implement, and lead a student ministry that changes the world by making disciples who make disciples:
• This role is for someone who is highly evangelistic and has a calling to help middle and high school students follow Jesus.
• The opportunity is to create pathways for students to come to salvation, grow in their faith, become disciples (one who loves and obeys Jesus), and help disciple others.
• Along the way, you will ensure that the DNA, vision, and values of The Table are communicated, demonstrated, and infused into TBL YTH and iLead.
• While the responsibilities and skills detailed below are critical, a heart for God’s Kingdom and demonstrated leadership skills, talents, and results are the foundation for success in this leadership opportunity.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vision Casting: Develops and communicates a vision for the student ministry at The Table Church that aligns with the church’s core mission and values, ensuring a unified approach to ministry. Crafts a compelling narrative that excites both students and their families about the possibilities within the ministry. Inspires youth to see themselves as active contributors to the church community, equipping them to live out their faith in impactful ways
  • Team Development: Proactively recruits and selects volunteers who share a passion for serving and guiding young people, ensuring alignment with The Table Church’s mission. Offers ongoing training and mentorship to volunteers, helping them grow as leaders who can support and care for students. Fosters a collaborative team culture where leaders feel valued, supported, and prepared to serve effectively in all areas of student ministry
  • Student Engagement and Evangelism: Builds genuine, trusting relationships with students, meeting them where they are in life and faith. Creates a welcoming environment that resonates with the needs and interests of students, helping them feel a true sense of belonging within The Table Church community. Encourages students to live missionally by connecting their personal experiences to the church’s broader outreach efforts, empowering them to share their faith authentically.
  • Biblical Teaching: Communicates Scripture in ways that are relatable and applicable, helping students understand and internalize biblical truths. Develops messages and lessons that address students’ unique questions and challenges, guiding them toward a biblical worldview. Encourages students at The Table Church to live out their faith, equipping them with practical tools to apply Scripture in their everyday lives.
  • Ministry Planning and Execution: Organizes and oversees impactful programs and events, from weekly gatherings to retreats, that inspire and engage students in their spiritual journeys. Designs events that foster a sense of community, promote spiritual growth, and encourage students to invite friends, aligning with The Table Church’s outreach goals. Manages event logistics, build systems, and manage volunteer coordination to ensure that each program runs smoothly, offering students a safe, enjoyable, and spiritually enriching experience.

  • You’re a motivated builder. You can recruit people to build a robust student ministry. You’re highly driven.
  • You’re a disciple-maker. You invest in people, and they catch that vision and go on to disciple others. You have a track record of helping people take their next step in faith, and some of them have followed your example and are currently doing the same with others.
  • You’re a self-starter. You have an ability to get things done. You’ve got a system in place to make sure things don’t fall through the cracks. You follow through on things you say you’ll do. You respond promptly to emails and phone calls.
  • You’re comfortable leading “naturally supernaturally” (operating in the gifts of the Spirit, including praying for healing and prophetic prayer) in all contexts, practically blending the natural and supernatural aspects of leadership.
  • You have relational warmth. People find you approachable and easy to talk to. You are warm and engaging, and clearly care for people. You have a pastor’s heart and a leader’s mind. You can speak comfortably and naturally in front of large and small groups. Your own personality comes through. People look to you as a leader.
