CrossWinds is a powerhouse of a church located 30 miles east of San Francisco Bay. It has been ministering for 35 years in the community of Livermore. CrossWinds has been known for using the creative arts from the very start. This reputation continues today as they communicate the gospel message of Jesus each week with a high value for creativity. They are a church that practices the “Third Way,” which means they graciously hold space to agree to disagree. Truly, all are welcome to be a part of the church community and participate fully in their gifts. CrossWinds is committed to using their property in kingdom-minded ways and has 28 tiny homes on its campus as permanent, sustainable housing for formerly unhoused individuals.

Position Description

The Creative Arts Director* is a pivotal role that will shape the weekend experience through the use of a breadth of mediums such as music, lights and video. This role will lead the creative arts department. They will oversee a team of staff and volunteers who joyfully put their hands in the middle of services that point to the hope found in Jesus. *This position could be a Pastor if the candidate prefers and is qualified for a pastoral role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • This person will lead the church’s creative arts department, which includes weekend programming.
  • This person will be the gatekeeper for Sunday services, managing people, elements, transitions, and service flow.
  • This person will have an essential role in being a storyteller. They will highlight real-life stories from the community, as well as steward the creation of original stories, and communicate these stories through video and other creative mediums.
  • This person will lead weekly brainstorming, decision, production, and evaluation meetings and supervise a team of leaders.
  • This person will consistently and clearly communicate vision and strategy weekly as creative ideas are dreamed of, decided upon, and implemented.

 

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

  • A devoted follower of Jesus who is energized by sharing the gospel in creative ways.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management with the ability to clearly communicate vision and inspire effective execution.
  • A hunger and drive for creative work. This leader is energized by dreaming creatively with a team and effectively storytelling.
  • Has a passion for recruiting, developing, and training team members. This person has experience being in a supervisory role.
  • This person has a “big picture” understanding of all the production elements that go into putting on a service, and has the ability to make decisions and lead from this knowledge.
  • Preferred but not required: a strong candidate with experience in video production or direction.
  • Please Note: This is not a worship leading position. This person will join a team with a fantastic Worship Pastor.
