I love this job at Charter Oak because it’s centered on making disciples who make disciples—a mission that aligns deeply with my calling. The church’s history of bold, outward-focused ministry inspires me, especially its commitment to reaching new communities with the love of Jesus. I’m energized by the opportunity to launch a new campus, build teams, and create spaces for transformation and spiritual growth. Charter Oak’s Wesleyan theology, openness to the Holy Spirit, and inclusion of women in leadership reflect a biblically grounded, Spirit-led culture I deeply respect. It’s a place where vision, mission, and people come together to make a lasting kingdom impact.
Charter Oak Church was founded by Bob Richards in 1961. The church started with door-to-door ministry, with Pastor Bob discipling his neighbors of the Charter Oak neighborhood and holding services at his home.
After two years, the church had grown substantially, and the first building of Charter Oak Church was established. The next forty years rooted the church and saw much expansion and growth, leading into August 2005 and the breaking ground on a new building: our Frye Farm Campus.
Charter Oak Church multiplied from under 100 congregants in the 1960s to a church family of over 600 by the mid-2000s. At that time, our vision to infuse passion for Jesus into the people of Westmoreland County was becoming clear.
By 2014, Crossroads Campus joined the family in Greensburg, with Jeannette Campus soon after in 2017 and Mt. Pleasant-Scottdale close behind in 2018. We continue to grow and expand to reach those who are searching and equip our church family to be disciples, who make disciples, who make disciples of Jesus by spreading His love and truth.
Charter Oak Church is seeking a high-capacity leader who is passionate about the gospel and people to be the Campus Pastor of the newest campus in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The Campus Pastor will possess a multiplication mindset and understand the nuances that are inherent in building a new campus location. Under the leadership of the Lead Pastor, the successful candidate will offer pastoral leadership and ensure the church’s vision, convictions, culture, and systems are being reproduced.
