Level Grove Baptist Church

Children's Minister

Cornelia, Georgia

Why I Love This Opportunity

Dan Lovaglia

Associate

Level Grove Baptist Church started by reaching the next generation and has never stopped. I love their church-wide strategy to equip kids at every age and stage to join God’s mission in the church, locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Partnering with this genuinely “great big small church where everyone has a place” inspires me and will draw you in too.

About This Organization

With nearly 150 years of ministry in its rearview mirror, it’s clear to see the remarkable Gospel impact of Level Grove Baptist Church. This Southern Baptist Church has remained an anchor in Cornelia and Habersham County since 1876. The church is recognized in Northeast Georgia for its unwavering commitment to being and making disciples of Jesus Christ of all ages. Level Grove’s mission to reach kids and families began when it was founded and continues today. It’s no wonder God continues to grow the church’s footprint, as over the past five years, it has expanded to reach people from five counties and fifteen cities.

Show up at Level Grove, and you’ll be welcomed like family. Each weekend, an average of 1,400 people engage in Level Grove’s worship services (Sundays, 9 am & 11 am). Most participate in the 10 am Connection hour as part of season-of-life groups and classes. Dynamic children’s ministry for infants through 6th grade is in action through Sunday morning and Wednesday nights, and Camp K is the church’s annual summer ministry for Habersham County. The church’s midweek preschool is also a draw for local families. Whether you’re young or old, rich or poor, single or married, following Christ or not, Level Grove has onramps to grow in faith and get involved in God’s global mission—starting in the church to the ends of the earth.

Position Description

Level Grove Baptist Church is widely known for its dynamic children’s ministries. This engaging family of faith passionately serves kids at church gatherings on Sundays (9 am, 10 am, 11 am) and Wednesdays (6 pm) and through its midweek preschool, special events, and region-wide summer camp. With the previous Children’s Minister retiring after 12 remarkable years in the role, Level Grove Kids (Grades 1-6) is looking for a leader to take the ministry to the next level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Align, Rally, and Go: The church and kids ministry at Level Grove is always on the move. Children and families are drawn to the Gospel-centered passion and mission of the ministry. In this next season, Level Grove Kids needs a team-building leader to strategically assess and align the programming, facilities, resources, and offerings that serve kids, families, and leaders.
  • Bring Fresh Eyes & Build: The ministry’s desire is that the new Children’s Minister will come in, survey what’s in place, paint a picture of potential, and work with inside and outside resources to create an amazing space for kids, families, and leaders to connect, grow, and multiply as followers of Jesus Christ.
  • Disciple Kids on Mission: The strategic thread throughout Level Grove Kids is that following Christ means joining Him on a mission for the Gospel. This happens in the church, locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally, and Level Grove has a developmental approach for this to become a reality starting with kids. Whoever steps into lead Level Grove Kids needs to be a disciple maker at heart and in practice.
  • Be a First In, Last Out Leader: A leader who prefers to be on the sideline or administrate behind a desk will have difficulty fitting in at Level Grove. The next Children’s Minister that steers Level Grove Kids will thrive if they’re naturally a “first in, last out” kind of leader. This doesn’t mean doing everything or even being responsible for unlocking and lock doors all the time. It’s more about the heart posture of servanthood, to lead like Jesus so that others will grow to serve as they are served.

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

  • Passion for lifelong relational discipleship and missions.
  • Energized by elementary kids ministry and young families.
  •  Theologically aligned with Southern Baptist Convention.
  • Desire to enhance and expand regional kids ministry.
  • “Lead your lane” and “all hands on deck” church leader.
  • Humility and courage to develop in a growing role.
