Lower Manhattan Community Church
Born in 2003, Lower Manhattan Community Church serves singles and families, builds community, and welcomes each person regardless of their religious background–or lack thereof. LMCC meets downtown with a sizable lower Manhattan population base, but people from numerous parts of the city, Brooklyn, and Queens call LMCC home. The church reflects the city in its determined spirit, creative energy, and diversity, but it contrasts the city’s fast-paced culture with its commitment to receive, reflect upon, and practice the timeless teachings of the Bible. LMCC invites people of all spiritual interest levels to participate as much or as little as they want, but also encourages them to takes steps of faith to explore what it means to know and follow Jesus
New York City is a special place and Lower Manhattan is one of the most family-friendly areas in Manhattan. Surrounded by the Hudson River and the East River, Lower Manhattan offers some of the most sought-after stores, restaurants, and art galleries, along with city hall, the financial district, the new One World Trade building, three bridges into Brooklyn and a tunnel into New Jersey. And located within walking distance of all, on the west side in Tribeca, just north of residential Battery Park City, is Lower Manhattan Community Church. Whether you like to explore by walking city streets or biking on the river esplanade, you will enjoy meeting some of the most interesting and friendly people on the planet.
Lower Manhattan Community Church’s staff culture is healthy and enjoyable as Pastors Ryan and Logan take time for staff to connect, celebrate, and care for one another. The staff is empowered to lead the church and its ministries, and there is freedom in how and when work is done.
The youth minister at Lower Manhattan Community Church will establish and develop a vision of discipleship for the youth in line with the church’s vision, create a community that allows youth to discover their identity in Christ, be safe to express their doubts, and empower them to live like Christ. LMCC seeks a youth minister to develop volunteer leaders to disciple and care for the church’s students while communicating effectively with parents to empower to disciple their teens.
The opportunity for ministry at LMCC is enormous. Because the student ministry is young, it is still forming its identity. Student engagement and ownership is at a high level. And there is a committed group of families who are eager to support the ministry and see it grow. Students are both hungry to understand how the Bible impacts their lives and they want to be part of something they can bring their friends to. The youth minister position is an incredible opportunity for someone who wants to build a ministry team of leaders, partner with parents to help them disciple their teens, and cast vision for what it means to follow Jesus in the city and around the world.
