Nathan, aka “Chivo” Hawkins serves on our Nonprofit team as well as a Senior Director with a local charitable organization. Serving as a bridge between Executive and program staff, and the agency and community, chivo’s roles leverage and develop his leadership and communication skills, keeping him on the leading edge of learning.

Chivo has worked with a faith-based tech firm, as a Church Planting Executive, as a Regional and Senior Program Director in international development and as a local church Pastor. From ministry, to program leadership, fundraising to organizational development, Chivo’s experience serves Slingshot and her partners with broad perspective and deep insights.
As an adoptee, trans-racial adoptive father, and foster parent, Chivo and his family are passionate about connecting the marginalized with the big “C” church for holistic gospel transformation.

Originally from Minneapolis, Chivo completed his BA in Communications & Spanish at the University of Minnesota while working in sports broadcasting. Chivo got his nickname and start in ministry in Mexico, followed by seminary in Eastern Tennessee then church planting in New Orleans.

The Hawkins family call Seattle home now; Chivo loves mountaineering and reading when he’s not watching one of his four children in their various extracurricular activities. And coffee, always coffee.
