Rivertree Christian Church

Campus Pastor

Hartville (Canton),

Ohio

Why I Love This Opportunity

Chris Lagerlof

Senior Associate

I love Rivertree Lake Campus and its dream to send a missionary to every street and a missional community to every neighborhood so that where people reside, everything will live. This is a great opportunity for a highly strategic leader inspired to build and grow a church campus and passionate about teaching and developing ministry and leaders.

About This Organization

For over 50 years, RiverTree Christian Church has been reaching out to Stark County and beyond. Currently, RiverTree consists of 7 campuses ranging in size from 100 to 1,500 people & multiple “third spaces.” In addition, RiverTree is committed to launching multiple networks of churches that will multiply the church at every level by equipping people to be disciple-makers of Jesus Christ.

RiverTree’s Lake campus was planted in 2006 and averaged 550 people (pre-COVID) / 350 people (post-COVID) & is led by six full and part-time staff members. The Campus Pastor at RiverTree Lake will lead the campus toward God’s vision for living as disciples of Jesus Christ in their unique contexts through our common vehicles of missional communities, public gatherings, and partnerships.

RiverTree Lake’s facility is an old car dealership that was renovated throughout the pandemic. It is roughly 20,000 square feet with an auditorium (that can seat up to 500 people), children’s classrooms that can house 200 children at a time, and an atrium. One of their ministry partners, GentleBrook, allows RiverTree Lake to utilize their gymnasium next door for student ministry activities throughout the week. Hartville (where RiverTree Lake is planted) is a suburban/rural community that many families flock to. It has easy access to the highway & isn’t far from several urban centers. They have a great school district and a safe and tight-knit community.

RiverTree pastors strongly contend for and are unified around 4 primary Values: Incarnation in their own communities, Mission with God that reaches “the one”, Health that shows in lives whose “doing” life does not exceed their “being” life, and Multiplication of every facet of their church from disciple-making to church planting.

RiverTree is staff-led and elder-protected. RiverTree has one eldership & the sole report to the elders is Jason Lantz. Decisions are made through a system of support/accountability. There are checks & balances on decisions that can be made by the pastors & decisions that must get further approval.
