This 50-year-old church has had a fantastic journey that has helped them truly understand who they are, and they have placed a significant focus on internal health. This church has made major investments in the next generation and is building a ministry that profoundly impacts kids, teenagers, and families. A seasoned NextGen Pastor will be privileged to guide a church with significant influence to champion the next generation like never before.

About This Organization

It’s hard to believe that what began in a mobile chapel on Spillway Road in February of 1971 would grow to become the church we experience today, where people from all over Mississippi join together in multiple locations for worship each Sunday.

Our journey has involved three Senior Pastors since the launch of the church, all providing timely and God-given leadership during their tenure. In January 1999, God brought Dr. Chip Henderson, Pinelake’s Senior Pastor, to lead the congregation. Shortly afterward, God blessed our church with seasons of rapid growth, and it was quickly apparent there would not be enough space at the Spillway Road location for what God intended to do.

A little over a year later, in February 2000, the church’s leadership began an aggressive search for a new location that would provide the necessary room to reach more people. In November 2000, the church met on land off of Lakeland Drive in Flowood, MS, to dedicate the immense and beautiful 170 acres God provided as a new location.

By November 2003, the new facility was completed, and the Pinelake congregation held its first services at the Reservoir campus. While the new facilities were wonderful, the journey with God over the previous five years would forever mark the people and remind them that church isn’t about buildings but about God working in His people.

After three more years of rapid growth, in 2006, the Pinelake Elders and Senior Leadership Team felt God leading the church to expand by launching additional campuses in Mississippi. In the fall of 2006, the church launched the second Pinelake campus in Madison. In January of 2009, Pinelake launched its third campus in Clinton, Mississippi. In 2011, the fourth campus in the Starkville area launched. In 2015, the fifth Pinelake campus was launched in Oxford.

More than 15,000 people attend weekly worship at one of Pinelake’s five campuses today. We believe Pinelake is a movement of God, and we have yet to see the end of God’s action plan for our church. Pinelake remains a church committed to seeing Mississippi changed one Life Change Story at a time. Our mission is to help people Learn from Christ, Live in Christ, and Lead others to Christ.

Position Description

Pinelake is looking for an experienced and competent Director of Next Gen. Recent organizational structure shifts and a long-term vacancy in this role require a competent leader to assess current ministry realities and chart a path for future growth and development. The Director of Next Gen will lead the One Church team staff while influencing dozens of kids and student ministry leaders across all Pinelake campuses. This role requires leadership savvy, influencing and leading staff from a position of coaching and mentoring while holding the ministry strategies and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide vision, strategy, coaching, alignment, and resourcing to the Next Gen Ministries across Pinelake campuses.
  • Collaborate with ministry teams to establish goals and objectives for Next Gen Ministries and initiate strategies to fulfill them.
  • Relationally shepherd the Directors of Pinelake Students and Pinelake Little Lakers and Kids, as well as the Pastors and Ministers within the Next Gen Ministries, to support their spiritual and professional development.
  • Shape and supervise servant leader and servant leader development within the Next Gen Ministries in keeping with the principles taught in Ephesians 4:11-12.
  • Direct, evaluate and oversee Pinelake’s discipleship process for Next Gen ministries, including outreach, ministry structure, and special events.
  • Influence the Next Gen Ministry culture by modeling and shepherding toward spiritual, emotional, relational, physical, and organizational health.
  • Communicate consistently with the Campus Pastors and Pastors of Ministry regarding the health and development of their respective staff in the Next Gen Ministries, as well as the One Church strategy and vision.
  • Collaborate with Pinelake’s Resourcing and Communications team regarding curriculum, content, and promotional material for Next Gen Ministries.
  • Provides oversight for and leadership to Pinelake’s Our House Promise through vision casting, ongoing training, and ensuring that campus-level leadership adheres to policy enforcement
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
