Orchard Valley Christian Church is a unique church. This is an excellent opportunity for a spiritual leader who wants to impact and influence people in a highly unchurched geography. It will be vital for this new leader to learn the church and Bay Area culture quickly and develop chemistry with the church and its leadership. OCVV is an optimistic and well-knitted church looking forward to its next Lead Pastor.
Orchard Valley Christian Church is an English-speaking, multi-ethnic, multi-Asian, multi-generational family-oriented church. They began in 1978 as Agape Bible Church under the leadership of Jerry Chung. The church was a group of Chinese-American families that had moved from San Francisco to Silicon Valley. In 1993, it became Orchard Valley Christian Church.
In January 2005, Curt Ogawa became the lead pastor. OVCC grew, adding new leadership, a home group ministry, a refocused youth and children’s ministry, a revitalized missions ministry, a new compassion ministry, and a new discipleship ministry. Since OVCC’s start in 1978, they’ve held worship services at six locations and currently meet in San Jose. The ministerial staff is Pastor Mark Hanson-Kahn, who plans to transition once a Lead Pastor is in place. The vision of OVCC is to be fruitful in the world through Christ-centered worship, community with camaraderie in their home gatherings, and expressing God’s heart of compassion through caring for and serving others.
