Why I Love This Opportunity

Slingshot Group is grateful to partner with North River Church in the search for its next Lead Pastor. From its beginnings in 1989, North River has carried a clear mission of reaching the unchurched with the good news of Jesus while building a strong culture of discipleship and community. About This Organization

North River Church, a non-denominational Christian church, began in the fall of 1989 as a dream in the hearts of a handful of people who longed to start a church with a heart for Jesus. From the beginning, the mission was clear. North River would present the good news of Jesus Christ to unchurched people across Boston’s South Shore, starting in Pembroke.

The first worship services were held in the Pembroke Community Center. Six months later, growing attendance led to a move into Corporate Park on Oak Street in Pembroke. Over thirteen years in that unconventional storefront setting, North River expanded from fifty to nearly four hundred people, steadily adding space as the ministry grew.

In 1999, God opened an extraordinary door. The Tedeschi Realty Company offered 44.2 acres of land at a significant discount that paved the way for our current campus to become a reality. In March 2003, North River moved into its new campus at 334 Old Oak Street, located on the Pembroke and Marshfield town lines.

From its earliest days, North River has embraced a seeker-focused ministry approach integrated with intentional discipleship based on the Great Commandment and Great Commission. The church has consistently invested in children’s and student ministries, developed a thriving network of small groups, and partnered with local schools and communities.

Today, North River continues to average around 400 both online and in-person in weekly attendance, committed to the same mission that started it all. The church remains devoted to reaching those far from God, building them up in faith, and sending them out to live for Christ on the South Shore and beyond.
