About This Organization

Living Hope is an Assembly of God church in Merrillville, Indiana. They have two campuses and a weekly service that meets online. On an average Sunday, more than 800 people gather and worship together at the two physical locations. Their mission statement is “We exist to bring the hope, love, and purpose of God to all people.”

Pastor Rick is in his third year as Lead Pastor and has brought a renewed passion for the vision and mission of the church. They also reexamined and redefined their core values as a team. There’s a lot of intentionality, excellence, and creativity in living out those values and accomplishing the vision. They are in a solid season of financial health partly due to the thriving daycare they provide to the community. Good Shepherd fills a huge need in the community, and they’ve seen God continue to bless their efforts in that initiative. There’s room to grow and momentum in the right direction. They need to fill out their team to get there with sustainability and good stewardship.

Position Description

The Executive Pastor serves in leadership over the business functions of Living Hope Church and succeeds by applying sound Biblical principles in the development and execution of strategies to improve the health and function of the Church. This position is responsible for leading the business, finance, facility, and human resource work while engaging closely with staff, volunteers, and partners to leverage ministry effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Lead Pastor to implement the vision and strategy.
  • Develop, guide, and empower the staff and volunteers to accomplish the mission.
  •  Oversee all aspects of budgeting, including preparation of the annual budget, receipting and tracking income, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, accounting, expense approvals, and reporting for all church campuses and affiliated daycare operations.
  • Oversee and manage all employees, including the hiring, training, and performance evaluation processes.
  • Steward church resources, facilities, and schedule, including managing the master calendar.
  • Oversee and manage the upkeep and security of all Living Hope Church facilities.

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

  • A demonstrated growing relationship with Jesus and a passion for the church.
  • A servant leadership style.
  •  Minimum ten years experience in growing roles in business management, possibly in a church environment. (Experience in managing a multi-site operation is a plus)
  • Proven track record of training leaders.
  • Exemplary organizational skills.
  • Self-starter and able to gather, multiply, and lead teams.
  • Proficient in HR policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field. A degree in a ministry-related field is a plus.
