About This Organization

Lake Oconee Church began in January of 2013 from a handful of people who connected after moving from Alpharetta and Buckhead to Lake Oconee. Discouraged after visiting some nearby churches, they became a small group, watching North Point Online on Sunday mornings and meeting up afterward over lunch to go through the discussion questions together. Someone asked, “What if we rent the movie theatre on Sunday mornings and invite our friends.” So that’s what they did for the first time on January 6th of, 2013 with 17 people. Twenty-two months later, in November of 2014, with eighty-some people in the room, the first pastor began leading.

Over the next four years, what began as a “viewing experience” in one theatre bay expanded to a fully functioning local church. In late March of 2019, Lake Oconee Church moved out of the movie theatre and into a new building.

Since then, we have added additional staff, led through covid, expanded to a second campus in Houston County, and are poised to launch an additional 30,000 sq. ft. phase two of our building with strong influence and goodwill in our growing community plus a litany of life-change in the seats.
