Key Responsibilities
Strategic and Operational Leadership
- Translate the Senior Pastor’s vision into clearly defined ministry goals and measurable plans.
- Assist in staff leadership to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Develop and maintain organizational policies, procedures, and workflows for efficiency and accountability.
- Ensure compliance with church bylaws, legal regulations, and best practices for risk management.
- Serve as the primary operational leader of the church, ensuring all administrative and support functions align with the Senior Pastor’s vision.
Ministry Leadership and Development
- Provide guidance and oversight team members leading discipleship, evangelism, and next generation ministries.
- Mentor and develop ministry leaders, providing accountability, resources, and encouragement.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, conflict resolution, and professional development.
- Ensure all ministries align with the church’s mission, vision, and values.
Financial Oversight
- Assist the Senior Pastor with the oversight of all financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, reporting, and stewardship strategies.
- Work with the Senior Pastor and ministry team to prepare the annual budget and monitor performance.
- Ensure proper financial controls, audits, payroll, and insurance coverage.
- Provide clear and timely financial reports to the Senior Pastor, staff, and church leadership.
Facilities, IT, and Security
- Manage the use, maintenance, and improvement of church facilities and grounds.
- Coordinate safety and security measures for staff, members, and guests.
- Oversee vendor contracts, supplies, and equipment procurement.
- Plan and manage operational logistics for special events and major ministry activities.
Ministry Support, Coordination, and Promotion
- Ensure administrative systems effectively support all ministry areas.
- Provide guidance and oversight for communications staff, administering a robust plan for internal and external communications.
- Coordinate logistics for major church events, ensuring adequate staffing, resources, and communication.
- Work with ministry leaders to evaluate effectiveness and improve operational support.
- Manage an up-to-date church activity and facility use calendar.
Pastoral Support and Other Duties
- Assist in pastoral care responsibilities and occasional preaching/teaching.
- Carry out all other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor, demonstrating flexibility and a servant’s
- heart in adapting to the needs of the church.
Key Qualifications
- A growing follower of Jesus Christ with a clear calling to serve the local church.
- Alignment with the mission, vision, strategy, and doctrine of First Baptist Church.
- 5+ years in operational leadership, preferably in a church, nonprofit, or corporate environment; experience with budgeting, HR, IT systems, and facilities oversight.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities; proficiency in financial, facility, and project management; skilled in IT systems and security best practices; effective communicator and team builder.
- Steward leader, trustworthy, detail-oriented, passion for excellence, adaptable, collaborative, and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or seminary degree preferred. Business or nonprofit administration training is a plus.
