Why We Love This Opportunity
Located in the diverse college town of Eugene, OR, Ekklesia is making a tremendous Kingdom impact throughout their city. With a mission to create a healthy and inspired community that reaches, teaches, and releases people with the Gospel through the leading of the Holy Spirit, Ekklesia is seeking a worship pastor to partner with them to see greater Eugene transformed.
About This Organization
Ekklesia Eugene started 12 years ago in a Eugene area apartment focused on reaching their city with the Gospel. It continued to grow and have a vibrant ministry towards college students at the University of Oregon. About 2.5 years ago, as the founding pastor transitioned and the new lead pastor, Steve Goble, took the reins, Ekklesia began to experience a new level of growth and impact. While Ekklesia was forced to move locations and adapt a few times throughout the pandemic, they have been able to settle into a location and experience growth again as they search for a permanent place to call home.
Since these simple beginnings, the Lord has blessed the ministry of Ekklesia in every way to a growing community of nearly 1000. Even as this community continues to grow, the real story of Ekklesia is comprised of individual stories of lives that the power of Jesus has changed. Many each year choose to surrender their lives to Christ, get baptized, and give sacrificially that the character of Eugene and surrounding communities might be shaped by those who take the good news of God’s redemption story beyond the borders of the Ekklesia gatherings.
The Worship Ministry of Ekklesia is certainly seen as one of the great strengths of their culture and a high-impact contributor to the overall ethos of the organization. There is a good sense of unity and commitment from the team, and they are just without a leader at this present time. There is a high level of musicianship and execution of weekend gatherings, and the team continues to lean in as Ekklesia expands its impact throughout the city.
The Worship Pastor will bring overall leadership to the worship & creative ministry of Ekklesia. This person will work closely with the Lead Pastor, Technical Director, and staff in the growth and expansion of creativity to build and create intentional weekend and midweek college gatherings aiming both believers and pre-followers towards the heart of the Father. They will serve as the primary worship leader yet will also develop those around them, continuing in the value Ekklesia holds of giving leadership away and creating a team of worship leaders. Their presence on stage and ability to engage the congregation in theologically-grounded, joy-filled, Christ-exalting, Spirit-led worship with excellence will be a key component.
