    Position Description

    The High School Pastor is a spiritual and organizational leader who oversees Student Ministries at the Alton Darby Campus while creating an environment where students are encouraged to seek and follow God’s word, positively impact others, and grow spiritually through serving. The High School Pastor will provide energizing teaching and leadership for adult leaders and students while maintaining a strong connection with parents. He or she will set the spiritual intensity for Student Ministries and will have a strong work ethic and a team-oriented mindset. This person will thrive in a fast/flexible work environment and will measure success by what they equip adult leaders, students, and student leaders to do to reach people for Christ.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Primary communicator and leader of Student Ministries at the AD campus
    • Execute the vision in conjunction with the Alton Darby Campus Pastor for Cypress Students and develop the plan to carry it out
    • Execute curriculum and weekly programming structure
    • Teach the vision and purpose statement to all volunteers, staff, and Student Ministry leaders
    • Champion the vision and strategy for student programming in alignment with the overall mission, vision, and strategies of Cypress Execute outreach programs, activities, and events (evangelism)
    • Create a pathway to spiritual growth and leadership by planning programs, activities, and events that include opportunities for students to worship, connect with each other, learn Biblical truths, and apply them to their lives Establish student small groups by grade and by gender with adult volunteer leaders
    • Plan programs, activities, and events
    • Recruit, train, and develop a highly engaged and motivated volunteer team, ensuring they are well equipped, supported, and encouraged
    • Oversee a solid volunteer team that can help execute excellent large group
      programs, small groups, and other events
    • Meet regularly with your volunteers, staff, and residents & interns
    • Personally recruit new volunteers each quarter (goal established with your direct supervisor)Build your team with consistent training and equipping
    • Provide annual training events or conferences for your team
    • Develop collaborative relationships with all the Student Pastors at each campus
    • Build student volunteer teams, activating students to serve in student ministries and/or in various church ministries
    • Build and maintain quality relationships with parents
    • Clearly share your vision with parents so they understand the purpose of Cypress Student Ministry through 2-3 parent night events throughout the year
    • Create avenues of consistent contact with parents (regular e-newsletters, annual parent meetings, etc.) to connect church and home
    • Become aware of the needs of the parents
    • Lead Cypress Student Ministry to impact the local schools and build relationships and partnerships within the community

    What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

    • They are looking for candidates with a contagious walk with Jesus, a proven track record in youth ministry, and a “fit” on our campus and student team
    • A proven track record of success with 3-5 years of experience in student ministries
    • Proven experience in leading volunteer teams
    • A self-starter—highly motivated
    • Has a passion for Student Ministries
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • A good role model
    • Team player with effective relational skills (works well with others)Servant attitude
