About This Organization

2|42 Community Church is a multi-site church with 7 locations in mid and southeast Michigan, with Brighton being the central location. Brighton is a beautiful mid-sized city located between Ann Arbor and Lansing. In a highly collaborative approach to multi-site ministry, the seven campus worship pastors design every weekend service together under the direction of the central Weekend Creative Director and Weekend Lead. Jesus is stirring a new and beautiful vision at 2|42 centered around families and discipleship, and the goal of the weekend service is to give people a glimpse of His glory and His direction to help them say yes to their next bold step in their relationship with Jesus and His community.

Position Description

The Worship Pastor oversees both Worship and Production for service programming, events, and worship activities, including musical and creative aspects, planning, and preparation. An essential part of this position is to build and strengthen the Worship and Production teams by setting a culture of growth through the next steps in their spiritual devotion and musical skills. This influence spans beyond the weekend services and uplifts the worship environment within the entire campus ministry scope.

Key Responsibilities:

The Worship Pastor will collaborate closely with the central worship staff and the Brighton Production Pastor to design worship experiences that point to the Big Idea of the message. This includes leading a weekly Review and Planning meeting to discuss the previous Sunday and plan for future services. Other responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to building the worship culture at their 2|42 campus
  • Pastor and lead a team of volunteers: this involves recruiting, shepherding, training, equipping, and developing worship and production leaders and volunteers practically and spiritually
  • Champion and facilitate 2|42 Team Structure – a discipleship and development pipeline for musicians, vocalists, and production volunteers
  • Collaborate with central worship staff and other campus worship staff toward creative weekend programming and other settings as needed
  • Schedule teams through Planning Center Online (PCO)
  • Must understand music and be able to create charts and tracks for weekend worship (Use of Logic, Ableton, Multitrack Playback, and PCO) and all other appropriate music technology
  • Maintain and update volunteer information through CCB/Planning Center
  • Participate in appropriate department meetings
  • Assist, collaborate, and contribute to the execution of the online service broadcast
  • Various worship ministry pastoral and administrative duties

The successful candidate will have a deep and growing relationship with God, active involvement in the leadership of the church and campus, and a commitment to maintaining healthy and accountable relationships. They will also have a passion for shepherding others in their walk with God, and working effectively with many key leaders is necessary.

  • Proven experience in multi-generational relationship building and shepherding
  • Expertise in modern worship music, including band direction, arrangement, performance, and strong vocal/instrumental skills
  • 5+ years experience leading in worship or creative arts at a church of 1000+
  • Experience with Planning Center and personnel planning & scheduling
  • Experience leading a high-capacity creative arts team (~100 volunteers)
  • A collaborative, humble, and teachable approach to ministry
