Why We Love This Opportunity
Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church takes on a fresh approach to ministry through its artful blend of old and new, traditional and contemporary. People from all generations call this church home, including legacy members and newer congregants looking for heartfelt worship, teaching, and community life. Having recently navigated the succession of its longstanding senior pastor, the church is moving forward with renewed hope and momentum under a new, young lead pastor. This is an opportunity for a worship pastor to do effective ministry in a healthy church while living in a beautiful community. There is room to build, be creative, and to help lead this church into its desired future.
|Church or Org Description|
|Cornerstone EPC is a 33-year old family of faith that is respected in its community for consistent biblical teaching and uplifting worship services. The musical worship here has long been one of the church’s distinctives. People in the surrounding areas are drawn to engage actively in CEPC’s robust offering of discipleship experiences for all ages, as well as its family-focused programming, array of support ministries, and longstanding commitment to local/global missions. Building on its spiritually and relationally rich heritage, CEPC desires to move in to the future by connecting its community with God, one another, and the world through the love of Christ.
Prior to COVID-19, Cornerstone EPC saw about 1250 people participate across three worship services each weekend. These services included a Saturday night modern service which is band led, and two “blended” service offerings on Sunday mornings led by band, choir and orchestra. All services are characterized by a joyful and warm atmosphere with the desire to worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth. The people are drawn into worship by songs and hymns, contemporary and choral/orchestral in nature, by creeds, prayers, and the exposition of the Word.
|The goal of the worship ministry at CEPC is to present a passionate and authentic corporate worship experience regardless of the style of the music. The new Worship Pastor will oversee all things related to worship and media while shepherding those involved in these ministries. While this person will lead primarily in the blended services, he/she will also provide oversight of the modern worship leader and band.
While CEPC currently has a solid team of musicians and volunteers in the Worship Ministry, they desire a leader who will recruit and develop additional people. The new Worship Pastor should have the skills to lead the choir and have an appreciation for what the choir brings to a blended service format. The new leader should be “forward-facing” and have a vision for blending contemporary, band-driven worship music with a modern worship choir and orchestra. The successful candidate will be a trained musician who is a relational and humble leader. Ideally, the person should be a strong vocalist and the ability to lead from an instrument would be a plus. This person should love identifying potential in others, developing them, and empowering them to lead while striving for musical excellence and spiritual depth.
