Worship Pastor

What a great opportunity to serve in a church that is advancing the Gospel and making an impact in an entire region. This diverse church of 800 will move into a new facility in 2020.

Church Description *

SouthPoint was launched in 2005 to be a different kind of church than those already in the area. Southpoint’s mission is to intentionally connect the disconnected to Christ, Community, and Cause. Since inception, SouthPoint has been a come as you are, belong before you believe, community-style church. The planting pastor and several other staff come from a Young Life and student ministry background, which informs the church’s relational, incarnational approach to ministry.

This is a thriving multi-site church of over 800 is located about sixty miles south of Washington, D.C. in southern Maryland. The church currently has two campuses with the original location in Leonardtown, and the second campus in Lusby. The church owns almost 50acres of property and is looking to break ground this spring on a permanent campus. SouthPoint continues to be a healthy, growing church: in the last year 86 people made first-time decisions to follow Christ, 62 were baptized, and over 400 adults in small groups.

SouthPoint is an intentionally diverse community (predominantly white and African-American). This makes SouthPoint unique and culturally connected in an area that has not historically embraced diversity and reconciliation.

Position Description *

The worship ministry is anchored by its vocalists, many of whom have served for years together. The team comradery has taken a hit this year due to a worship leader who did not stay long, and some recruitment of instrumentalists and re-envisioning is needed while the church prepares for the monumental move into its facility.

The next leader will be:
– Passionate about Jesus and His mission
– Has the ability to build and work through teams
– Care pastorally for those on the team (both spiritually and practically)
– Be competent organizationally
– Disciple, mentor and develop worship leaders and teams who can rotate and provide quality worship
– Responsible for awareness of musical style and relevance as it relates to current culture both in and outside the church
