Why We Love This Opportunity
Grace Church exists to heal the brokenness of our world in Jesus’ name. This is an exciting time to partner with the Grace Church team! Grace has been making bold moves in their leadership, culture, and worship gatherings which embody values that lead towards authenticity, diversity, restoration and empowerment.
The Worship Pastor is an Associate Pastor role and be a key contributor to the culture and vision of Grace Church. This team is passionate about authentic, Jesus-center worship environments and creating space for people to encounter God’s presence.
Grace Church was started as a plant in 1991 by a church on the north side of Indianapolis. Grace started in a leased office building/warehouse in the northern suburbs of Indianapolis. Over 600 people gathered on the first Sunday and the church grew rapidly. In 1997, Grace moved to a permanent location on 146th Street and continued to grow. In the early 2000s, Saturday services were added. In 2008, the children and youth ministry spaces were expanded and a new auditorium was added to accommodate the continued growth. Over the past several years, Grace has opened a comprehensive Care Center and has been involved in planting several churches in the community, in the state of Indiana, and internationally.
Grace Church has recently navigated some very important theological, philosophical, and leadership transitions, including a very thorough and intentional succession of their founding senior pastor, a process which spanned almost a decade from the first conversation until June 1, 2020, when Pastor Barry Rodriguez fully assumed the role. Prior to the onset of COVID-19, Grace Church averaged 3,200 weekly congregants.
The culture of the worship ministry at Grace Church is healthy, diverse and ready for a strong leader to come in and bring direction, passion and inspiration to the music team. The team is anchored by a solid core and support from the Pastor of Weekend Experience, a fantastic Technical Director and support staff. The crew of musicians are eager to be given a vision for the future that exists in being raw, passionate and clear. They are ready to take worship beyond a weekend experience and grow deeper roots with one another in community and a focused passion for the future.
The right leader will lead with a great sense of awareness, innovation, creativity and clarity in the what and why behind worship and the gospel message. This leader will possess the ability to “read the room” and pastor moments through speaking, praying and leading the church in more than just songs but a truly meaningful worship encounter with Jesus.
The right leader will possess strong vocal and instrumental abilities and a willingness to build a team of other worship leaders around them. A humble confidence and authority to spiritually lead and engage the room is important.
