Vice President, North American Operations
Push The Rock
This position has been filled.
Push The Rock is an international sports ministry that partners with churches and organizations around the world to use sports to impact the world for Jesus Christ … ONE life at a time! Their mission is to proclaim the life-changing message of Jesus Christ through the pursuit of excellence in sportsmanship and athletics. They teach sportsmanship and character in addition to the sports fundamentals in a variety of different programs, using Scripture as the foundation, believing that sports is a universal language that creates common ground and opens the door for conversation.
Now in their 21st year, Push The Rock has had the privilege of ministering to more than 100,000 people and leading thousands to Christ. The ministry of PTR is accomplished through a number of programs, including summer camps, sports clubs, homeschool programs, internships, missions initiatives, prison ministry, inner city programs and a professional disc golf ministry.
The organization is governed by a board of directors and is headquartered in the beautiful Lehigh Valley in northeastern Pennsylvania. It’s led by its president, David Walton, who served as the board chair for many years before becoming its first full-time president just three years ago after a successful career in the corporate world. David is currently joined on the leadership team by Chico Schloneker, who oversees their international offices, short-term teams, international internships, and recruiting for the organization as a whole, and by Bruce Koblish, their VP of Development & Communications.
There are 44 full-time staff – which includes 24 nationals located overseas – and five part-time staff. They also employ 70–75 seasonal staff each year. Its budget in FY2018 is $2.5 million, which is up from about $1 million just six years ago. There are four other regional offices in Pennsylvania (Bucks County, Lehigh Valley, Delaware County and Harrisburg, with upcoming expansion into Hazleton, Reading and Lancaster), disc golf ministries in Michigan, Washington, Colorado and Florida, and international locations in Costa Rica, Brazil, Zambia, Spain, Italy, Guatemala and Mexico. Their newest initiative – E3 – has the goal of adding twelve new major markets across the US. Nashville and Dallas have been identified so far, with other markets to be identified in 2019.
The Vice President of North American Operations is a brand new position and requires relocation to the Lehigh Valley. The new VP will lead all of the programs and operations work of Push The Rock in the United States and, eventually, in Canada as well. Responsibilities include recruiting, developing and managing remote district leaders and staff, leading expansion efforts to establish program operations in new cities, and overseeing plans for new ministries. The VP will serve on the Leadership Team and is charged with helping to grow and maintain the mission, culture and goals of the organization. This is a support-raised position (meaning the person serving in this role will be responsible for raising their own support).
