Midwest Regional Development Representative

This position has been filled.

Reaching Souls International (RSI) is a ministry dedicated to reaching the maximum number of people for Christ in the least amount of time in the most efficient way. As such, they raise financial support, awareness and prayer support for their National Missionaries (NM)—indigenous leaders who are gifted and called to reach the people in their local region and culture—through word of mouth referrals, events, one-on-one and small group meetings, and speaking engagements by effectively telling the story of what God is doing through RSI. This new Midwest Regional Development Representative will serve as a key part of the organization, leading its fundraising and donor engagement efforts in that region.

At this point, RSI supports 2,004 National Missionaries who are reaching their own people for Christ in the mission field…and the mission field is right where each evangelist lives, whether that be in Africa, Cuba or India. These evangelists know where to preach, because they are preaching to their neighbors. There are no such things as language barriers or cultural miscues, because the language and culture is their own. Follow up with new Christians is simple and discipleship is natural, because those being saved are their friends, cousins, grandparents, and fellow citizens.

RSI is based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and is led by a 10-member board of directors. Its headquarters—built in 2011—is already at capacity with 14 full-time and two part-time staff. Their budget is $5.25 million and they currently work in 11 African countries (having most recently added Mozambique in 2017), plus Cuba and a partnership in India. In FY2018, an impressive 88% of the monies they spent went toward overseas missions, with 7% going to development and 5% to administration.

Their current revenue stream is heavily weighted toward major donors (defined as $5,000+), and the Midwest is its most significant region outside of Oklahoma and Texas. The new development rep there will inherit a strong, stable and faithful donor base from his/her recently-retired predecessor. But at just over $5 million, there is plenty of room (and need) for growth. Also, Reaching Souls has just earned its eighth consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator—their highest possible rating.

The Midwest Region Development Representative is responsible for all donor solicitation activities, from lead generation through close in the Midwest Region (MI, OH, IN, IL, WI, MN). S/he works within the Development Department team for the achievement of donor satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term donor loyalty goals in line with ministry and department vision and values. Their primary role is to engage donors and prospects who have the capacity to make significant gifts to support and transform Reaching Souls and help them accomplish their philanthropic goals.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for the Lord and for the ministry. S/he may currently be a successful fundraiser at another nonprofit who is ready for a new challenge. Or they could be someone from the business world with a strong, successful background in relational sales and business development who also has a great heart for ministry and for the world. They must reside in one of the six Midwestern states listed above.
