Why We Love This Opportunity
This is a great opportunity to join the Senior Leadership Team at Grace Presbyterian Church as the Pastor of Discipleship and Formation to help their strategy of fulling their mission: Gather to worship and celebrate the Lord; we CONNECT with others in authentic community; and we BLESS others across the street and around the world.
Grace Presbyterian Church, a member of ECO: A Covenant Order of Presbyterians, is seeking a Pastor for Discipleship and Formation to join the Grace team in reframing discipleship from institutional programming to intentional living. Grace is located in Houston, Texas, which is one of the fastest growing cities and the fourth largest city in the U.S. (largest in Texas) with a population of over 2 million in the city limits and over 4 million in the metropolitan area. Grace currently has four different worship services with a weekly worship attendance that averages 700 across contemporary, traditional and Spanish services. Grace has a staff of approximately 40 part-time and full-time employees.
Grace’s mission is “Making disciples by encouraging people to make Jesus visible in their daily lives.” Grace believes that discipleship is much more than a program or a class. It’s to fully understand that we are not called to go to church but instead to be the church in our daily lives. Grace seeks a pastor who will lead the implementation of a discipleship pathway for all ages and continue the building of a discipleship culture through the mission and values of Grace. In practice, the Pastor will devote most of his/her time and energy to adult-focused ministries, while also providing oversight of staff responsible for children’s and students’ spiritual formation and discipleship.
