About This Organization

Trinity Classical Academy was founded in 2001 with 28 students in grades K-2. Trinity now serves approximately 565 students in grades TK-12th. Educating through a unique classical Christian methodology, Trinity is among America’s top 10 classical Christian schools and is ranked No.20 in Best Christian Schools in California (by Niche.com). The founder, Liz Caddow, currently operates as Head of the School. This year, they celebrate their 13th senior class. To date, they have 100% college acceptance into colleges/universities. They also have two schools within the school, The Imago Dei School, which serves students on the developmental delay spectrum. In addition, they have a thriving independent learning community, Libertas Preparatory School. They also serve multiple students with unique learning needs.

Position Description

Trinity Classical Academy seeks candidates for the position of Director of Finance. Qualified candidates will be models in their lives and abilities within their roles. Serving as one of the key members of the School’s leadership team, the Director of Finance oversees the daily activities of the accounting and finance department personnel, prepares financial reports, leads the annual budgeting process, leads the annual audit process, ensures that strong and effective internal controls are in place to protect School assets, oversees risk management responsibilities, performs treasury functions, ensures compliance with financing agreements, and contributes to schoolwide strategic planning. This position is hands-on and requires a purposeful individual to work enthusiastically while ensuring all responsibilities are executed in a timely, professional, and confidential manner.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the School’s mission and goals
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance and reporting processes
  • Lead and work hands-on in collaboration with the Accounting Coordinator in the accounting function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and collaborate frequently with the Head of the School
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as GAAP standards
  • Provide financial insights and guidance to the senior leadership team and Board of Directors

 

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

  • The candidate is a Christian with an authentic and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ in both their professional and personal life with a calling and commitment to Christian education.
  • Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and strategic planning skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and other financial database systems
  • Working knowledge of general and non-profit accounting policies, procedures, and practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and prioritize multiple tasks effectively
  • A listener and learner
