While they have many systems in place to cover their bases in everyday communication (design, weekly email, print media, social media, video stories, etc.), Preston Trail needs someone who can help them leverage digital platforms and drive overall campaign management. The Digital Communications Director will be someone who knows how to look at the entire scope of creative communication and ensure the brand of Preston Trail is protected while innovation and creativity flourish. 

Church or Org Description 

From the very beginning Preston Trail’s mission of “Helping people find and follow Jesus Christ” has remained constant, and today they are just as committed to creating a church experience that is welcoming to anyone who walks through their doors. 

Preston Trail Community Church was started 17 years ago by longtime friends, Paul Basden and Jim Johnson. Both were native Texans who had attended Baylor University and felt called back to the city of Frisco, Texas, to serve people who were far from God. Preston Trail gathered for its first few years in an AMC movie theatre. The early days of Preston Trail focused on creating a welcoming space where the “appearance of a perfect life” was not a prerequisite for attending church. Today, that same emphasis is just as evident at Preston Trail as it was in the beginning.

Preston Trail has grown in tandem with the city it serves, hosting 4000+ in weekly worship. In response to this growth, Preston Trail recently moved into a new, state-of-the-art facility that has won design and architecture awards. Additionally, in the summer of 2017, Preston Trail launched their first multi-site campus in nearby McKinney, also one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation.

Position Description 

The Digital Communications Director is responsible for the oversight of all communications channels at Preston Trail, both digital and analog; internal and external. This person will champion the brand and voice of Preston Trail in all communication.


– Aligns with Preston Trail mission, beliefs, and values 

– Highly creative and innovative, with a technical awareness to oversee Preston Trail’s online presence, ensuring alignment with our branding and communications guidelines.

– Proven ability to manage digital communications teams— (social media, online engagement, website, app, and email).

-Culturally aware and passionate about representing the brand with a high level of integrity. 

-Experience with SEO and data analytics. 

-Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.

-Experience with email platforms such as Mail Chimp. 

-Highly collaborative style and proven experience developing and implementing communications strategies. 

-Proven experience leading and developing volunteer teams (artists, designers, photographers, and writers) to accomplish communication goals.

-College degree in Graphics Design, Marketing, Communications, or Web Design 

-At least 3-5 years of directly related experience in marketing, communications, project management, and/or tech/creative arts. Ministry experience preferred.

-Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.

-Demonstrated skills in social media management and/or digital marketing.
