|Idlewild Baptist Church began in 1933 after a neighborhood survey revealed a desire for a church in the area. The church experienced several decades of growth and change. Their most recent history, however, began in 1989 when Ken Whitten took over as Senior Pastor. Under Ken’s leadership for the past 25+ years with a congregation of over 10,000, and on any normal Sunday, attendance exceeding more than 7,000, Idlewild Baptist is a thriving church, consistently reaching an ever-increasing number of people in the region and beyond.
For the past 84 years, Idlewild has been a place of Christ-centered worship, Biblical equipping, local evangelism, and global outreach. Today, Worship services at Idlewild are current and engaging, blending the best of the old and new. Idlewild is a multi-generational church that is intentional about inviting people from all walks of life to experience God in His Word and through worship every weekend.
