FBC Boerne is entering a season of exciting ministry as they’ve recently called a new Senior Pastor and he leads them to embrace a new vision. The Communications Director will lead the charge in telling the “stories,” celebrating the wins, helping propel the vision, and reinforcing the values of this great church.

Church or Org Description

First Baptist Boerne is a growing church with an average weekend attendance of just under 1000 people and located in the Texas Hill Country just outside of San Antonio. As a church, they are actively seeking to meet the spiritual and community needs of one of the fastest-growing geographic areas in the country. The purpose of FBC Boerne is to be a Spirit-led and prayerful family of faith who have been empowered by Jesus Christ to love Him and all people through Biblical service. The church called a new senior pastor in December of 2019 who has brought fresh vision and momentum to this legacy church.

With the staff, the new Senior Pastor has shown himself to be a consummate team builder through listening, affirming, and always being open to new ideas. The staff is trusted to operate in their areas of expertise and are empowered to lead in those areas. The staff at FBC Boerne enjoy a collaborative and friendly environment where everyone enjoys working and having a good time together.

Position Description

As the church has grown, the communications efforts at FBC Boerne have been growing and evolving as well. The new Communications Director will help to cast vision for these efforts and build upon the existing foundation. This person will report directly to the Senior Pastor and will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all communications endeavors at FBC Boerne. As a multi-generational congregation, much thought and care should be given to strategic communication and “story-telling” that will engage people across generational lines. Areas in which leadership would like to see increased growth and improvement include:
• Establishment of an overall communications strategy and a unified “brand.”
• Ongoing maintenance and updating of the website.
• Expanded social media strategy.
• Use of videography to tell the “stories,” propel the vision, and reinforce the values of the church.

The Communications Director should be someone who is a “builder” at heart who develops and empowers others. This person should be independently motivated and a “big picture” thinker who can organize people and teams around projects. The ideal candidate will be a player/coach who effectively leads and educates the team on how to better communicate their story in their digital and physical environments.
