Why We Love This Opportunity
Leap of Faith Church is uniquely positioned to grow as a theologically niche church in a conservative area. It is positioned to grow as well as a church that’s a safe haven for those who feel like they don’t fit in more traditional churches. It is also a place for those who want to be challenged to grow as part of a church that embraces the tension of affirming multiple points of view while living in community together.
This is a great opportunity to come in as an Associate Pastor to learn from a seasoned leader and potentially move into the Lead Pastor role eventually. This leader will need to think of this opportunity similar to a church plant that has an established core team, budget, and building that can be leveraged to move into its next ministry season.
Church or Org Description
The mission of Leap of Faith Church is to provide a church alternative in our community that’s “inclusive, diverse, and glad to be in ministry to and with all people, working with our neighbors to make life better for all.” LOFC is a 5-year-old church plant in Sherman, Texas that has been able to renovate and move into its own building and is ready for its next season of ministry after beginning the regathering of the church in person.
The Sherman, Denison, and Pottsboro area is on the cusp of significant growth with new developments currently underway and the rapid expansion of the Dallas area. The next five years will see a significant population increase as the area becomes the outer ring of suburban or exurban growth. In Grayson County and at Leap of Faith, there’s plenty of space: space for families to spread out, space for all the new people moving this way, space for boundless creativity and professional growth at LOFC.
The Associate Pastor position is a great opportunity for someone looking to work with a unique church in its community with its inclusive theology and posture, who will be able to take advantage of the rapid growth in the area that will be occurring over the next several years. This leader will need to think of this opportunity similar to a church plant that has an established core team, budget, and building that can be leveraged to move into its next ministry season.
The position is unique because it will be the only full-time position currently on the staff team, working alongside a small team of staff members. This presents a great opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities while learning from a seasoned leader who knows both ministry and the community well. The initial priorities for the Associate Pastor will be to create systems and structure for volunteer and leadership development, to help to build more infrastructure for the Children’s and Youth Ministry, and invest in stewardship development to generate resources for the church to be able to take next steps.
