Mariners Community Church
We love that we get to work with such a community-oriented church in the California Coastal region of Half Moon Bay. Mariners Church is reaching people who don’t know Jesus and want to see Kingdom impact through a thriving youth ministry for those in and around Half Moon Bay.
Church Description *
In 1986, several small coastal Bible study groups began meeting together in a common living room. After outgrowing the living room, the church, which began calling themselves Mariners Community Church, met at the Coastside Community Center in Half Moon Bay. In April of 1988 Paul Richardson and his wife, Lisa, were called to lead the church.
The 90’s saw ups and downs but the church never really grew to more than about 120, which led to a “relaunch” of the church in 1999 with a specific focus on unchurched coastsiders. Within one year the church grew to about 250 people.
In the early 2000’s Mariners grew to two services on Sunday mornings to accommodate the crowds at the Community Center and additional office space was rented to hold multiplying children’s ministries. In 2008 a third service (Saturday evening) was added to provide an alternative to Sunday morning.
The church has continued to diversify and launch new opportunities to reach coastsiders and are now launching the New Wave Faith Journey as they expand the building and their reach for Jesus.
