|Church Description *|
|Fondren Church likes to describe itself as “a non-denominational church with stained-glass windows” because the church honors the past with great hope for the future. The architecture and history reflects this beautifully, and others have taken notice as the church has seen explosive growth. Fondren Church desires to not only proclaim the message of the Gospel, but to provide a warm community. They want to simplify life to facilitate margin, so Fondren Church can be a welcoming people who embrace one another with the hospitality of Christ. “People over programs” is a value they champion, and they work to utilize programs to develop people, not the other way around. They firmly believe that individuals are stronger when experiencing community with one another.
The mission of Fondren Church is to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission, which they accomplish by equipping people to live out Galatians 5:6b… “the only thing that matters is faith expressing itself in love.” Every area of ministry embraces the following discipleship strategy: CONNECT to God in a worship service; GROW in community in a group; SERVE with one another on a team, and; GIVE to the mission of God in all of life.

|On the weekends, Fondren Church hosts two worship services in two venues on their campus. The average attenders are young families from 29-35 years old. The vibe is very casual, laid back and community oriented. Beautiful stained-glass windows are a notable feature and add to the ambiance. The message and music is the same in both services and features modern worship repertoire while instrumentation includes electric guitars, acoustic guitar, bass, drums, and keys on occasion. Vocals are worship leader driven with harmonies by one or more of the rhythm players.
The new Worship Pastor should be authentic and highly relational with his/her teams and with those in the congregation. Not simply a performer, this person should have the heart of a pastor who invites others into worship. Having said this, strong musicianship is desired to effectively lead in congregational worship and lend credibility with the other musicians. The Worship Pastor must be a team player willing to pitch-in where needed for the overall good of the team. There is freedom here to be creative, to build, and to do ministry with a great team in a great community.
