|For the last two decades, The Ridge Church in Ankeny, Iowa, has been committed to reaching the lost and building the found into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. The Ridge strives to be a place inviting people to take steps UP towards God through worship, study and prayer. To connect IN with one another, and to reach OUT through serving. The 1,200 adults who attend The Ridge weekly are engaged in modern worship, dynamic kids and student ministries, and a small group system that seeks to help everyone know what their next step is.
Founding Senior Pastor Mike Van Rees continues to pastor The Ridge forward as it has steadily grown since the beginning. The church is a part of the Reformed Church of America (www.rca.org). “Although there are plenty folks around here who have no idea,” chuckles Mike, “as we’ve continued to advance the Gospel people just know this as a place where they’ve met the grace of Jesus. That’s really who we are.”
Ankeny, a suburb of Des Moines, is the fourth fastest growing city in the country. This community is home to excellent schools, new retail areas, and sprawling housing developments.
|The Worship Arts ministry is strong and has been for some time under the leadership of Worship Pastor Graham Schardt. Graham has built the ministry to where it is today but envisions a new Worship Leader who can give more focused leadership to the musicians and singers. Graham will take an overall leadership role in the service programming giving oversight to the entire ministry.
The ministry seeks to magnify God and inspire participation in the congregation. The team knows it’s time for a new level of this type of engagement.
The ministry is healthy and steady, but the team knows a new influx of younger musicians and singers is required to go to the next level. This new role will bring an emphasis on community building and equipping for musical excellence. Plans include adding some technical staff as this new era in the worship arts ministry moves forward.
