Worship Arts Pastor
Alliance Bible Church
|Church Description *|
|“This is a Gospel-centric church,” so begins Lead Pastor Brian Dainsberg. “The Gospel must permeate all we do. Our next Worship Arts Pastor needs to see his work through those lenses.”
It’s looking through these lenses that led Brian to move his family from Appleton, WI in the summer of 2016 to Mequon, WI to assume the role of Lead Pastor at Alliance Bible Church. Alliance Bible was planted in 1978. “We are a place full of leaders and entrepreneurial types of people,” says Brian. “This is untapped potential for the Kingdom.”
Brian has the distinct advantage of having transitioned from the Executive Pastor role of a church of 5,000 to the Lead Pastor role of a church of 550. He also began in ministry as a worship leader so he knows what it takes to do the job week in and week out.
“Mequon was the perfect fit for me,” says Brian. “I’m a cerebral guy and this is a cerebral place. Many of those in our town have additional education beyond the college degree, and our church reflects that.”
Brian is influenced by Tim Keller, Matt Chandler, and The Gospel Coalition, and it will be important that the next Worship Arts Pastor be of the same mindset. “These influences are good landmarks of where I am theologically and in ministry philosophy,” says Brian. “I want us to sing great theology.”
The church is part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, and has two identical worship services led by a full band on Sunday mornings. The church was blessed with a worship pastor who spent eighteen years on staff leading the slow transition to contemporary worship.
|Position Description *|
|Alliance Bible Church is looking for a Worship Arts Pastor who is a developer of people, and a true worship leader. “We have to move beyond just singing through a set of songs, to going somewhere in worship,” says Brian. “We need someone who can bring out the potential in other people, and raise the temperature of worship when we gather.”
Spend an afternoon with Brian talking ministry, and you’ll hear the word potential over and over. This would apply to the area, the town, the Church, and the worship arts ministry. The Worship Arts Pastor candidate who will function best in this next season will be:
// A builder – the groundwork of the last two decades is laid, and there is a committed group of folks involved, but there is much to be done.
// Capable of casting a vision for a Worship Arts department – They must be able to translate Brian’s vision for the church into worship. They must be able to see what isn’t there yet, and call others to it as well.
Brian mentions aspects of Sovereign Grace Music, Vertical Church Band, and Norton Hall are all favorites and influences. “I’m not saying we are going to be those people. We are who we are, but those are all styles and strong lyrical influences of where I believe we could forge ahead.”
The next Worship Arts Pastor would do well if they are versed in modern tools of the trade (Pro Presenter, Ableton, Planning Center, In-Ear monitors, and scenic design/lighting, etc.). While the ministry is in building mode, so is the physical space. A remodel of the sanctuary is coming in the near future.
