Worship Arts Director/Pastor
The Crossing Church
When it comes to creative expression in their weekend gatherings, The Crossing is unmatched. Music, video, story, and teaching is produced with prayerful intention and executed with remarkable cohesiveness, demonstrating high-level talent in every dimension. But at the end of the day, they measure success by wandering souls finding Jesus and being transformed into devoted Christ followers. Their new lead pastor, Andrew Brownback will officially take the helm this fall. He is an extremely gifted leader and communicator, desirous of a Worship Arts Director / Pastor who resonates with the future of The Crossing and its current team.
The Crossing is a vibrant church in the heart of Orange County. Located in Costa Mesa, on the scenic southern-California coast, this epicenter of Orange County life could not be more strategic when it comes to impacting a progressive culture for Jesus Christ. As a community, their passion for reaching the unchurched is relentless. Located in a diverse area, they continue to reach people that the average church has failed to connect with.
Their nearly 4-acre campus is modern and vibrant with a design fitting the SoCal lifestyle. Within 5 miles of John Wayne Airport and just over the hill from beautiful Newport Beach, it is also blocks away from Vanguard University and the Orange County Fairgrounds. With a very prestigious corner location, the church has built a modern two-story sanctuary and the rest of the grounds have a spacious, but connected, layout.
The Worship Arts Director is responsible for the oversight and development of staff and ministry initiatives for the music and worship ministry. This role reports to the Creative Arts Pastor. The new worship leader must naturally resonate with The Crossing’s extreme missional approach to ministry. Caring and loving those distant from God and somewhat cynical toward traditional church is a non-negotiable. He or she must “fit” well in a racially diverse community whereby they understand the uniqueness of the greater Costa Mesa region and the diversity that it welcomes. Real-time cultural awareness will serve this leader well as they determine how to best communicate artistically and verbally from the platform in a way that connects to people’s hearts. A “preachy” predictable, cliche-riddled way of speaking would not connect well in this environment.
Candidates must have a passion for developing others both spiritually and musically. They must thrive relationally when it comes to attracting talent into the pool of players, singers and creatives. Though the opportunity is focused mostly on all things musical, the standard of excellence is extremely high. A high regard for natural collaboration is paramount to the success of serving in this role.
