Small Groups Pastor
Parkview Christian Church

Remote / Virtual
Orland Park, Illinois
Church Description *
The journey of Parkview Christian Church began in 1948 on a train bound for Chicago, where two women talked, hoped, and prayed together about what God could do in their community. They added to their numbers and started a prayer group, and from that small group, the church was born in a storefront location on April 15, 1951.

That was 65 years ago, and the church’s name has changed three times since then: from Tinley Park Church of Christ, to Tinley Park Christian Church, and finally, to Parkview Christian Church, a name that was chosen because it sounds like a hospital…so appropriate for a place of healing and hope.

Tim Harlow has been Parkview’s senior pastor since 1990 when he came to a church that was running 150 in attendance in a heavily unchurched area. Today, Parkview is a multi-site church of nearly 7,000 people in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, with campuses in Orland Park and Homer Glen, Illinois, and with a third campus scheduled to open in New Lenox in December of 2016.

Tim is a down-to-earth and gifted communicator who is tirelessly committed to a “come as you are” culture that welcomes everyone. Because of that, Parkview is made up of former gang leaders and business owners, ex-strippers and soccer moms, prodigals and big brothers, the disillusioned and unchurched, and the list goes on. In fact, a recent Parkview survey found that 40% of respondents said they did not attend church in the 5 years prior to coming to Parkview.

Parkview is a healthy church with a clearly defined mission: to REACH those who are far from God, RAISE them up to be fully devoted followers of Jesus, and RELEASE these followers to do God’s work in the church, the local community, and around the world.
