The Senior Pastor provides primary leadership, teaching, and direction of the church in all areas of ministry and administration and across all generations to fulfill the Redeemer Lutheran Church’s mission to transform ordinary people into extraordinary followers of Christ. Responsibilities are accomplished through collaboration and delegation with staff, board, and congregation.
This pastor will be gifted in deep Biblical teaching, inspiring people of all ages to live what they learn daily. He or she will provide Spirit-led, relationally strong shepherding of the church body and staff. It is important that this person seeks to understand current church activities and then casts a vision that motivates people to stretch and move in new ways. As a person who cares about their community, the candidate will desire to partner with others and extend the church’s work into the communities surrounding it.
Redeemer Lutheran Church was founded in 1916 in Fridley, Minnesota, which now is a northern Minneapolis suburb of 30,000 people. We remain a multi-generational congregation, using our spiritual gifts to glorify God and serve one another and those around us. As discussed further on our website, we have multiple serving ministries, such as youth programs and camps, our preschool, Grief Share, our prayer ministry, Meals on Wheels, kids programs, etc.
We know that Jesus Christ is the head of the Church, and all believers are adopted into His family, the Church. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority in all matters of what we believe and how we live. Redeemer is affiliated and theologically aligned with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ.
We offer two worship services each Sunday—a traditional liturgical service in our sanctuary at 9 a.m. and a contemporary service in our worship center at 10:30 a.m., both of which are also available online. Approximately 250 people worship in person at Redeemer each Sunday, and several also worship online. We also support one another by being committed members of growth groups.
The church is governed by a board of directors and led by the senior pastor and staff. The senior pastor is responsible for developing and supervising the staff, which currently consists of four full-time employees and 13 part-time employees.
