Although South Suburban Christian Church has been an aging congregation, they recognize that change is required to move into the future. South Suburban is seeking a leader who sees the value of a mature congregation along with embracing a contemporary worship style. This role requires Sr. Pastor candidates to possess maturity, wisdom, shepherding and effective communication skills. Great opportunity for candidates who are patient, long-haul leaders.

|South Suburban Christian Church is a strong, loving, non-judgmental church. The Lord has blessed us with many successes in ministry. There are a large number of willing and dedicated believers. We have significant ministries, programs and outreach. Long term and newer members both say they connected at South Suburban Christian Church because it’s a loving place with rich community. Over the past two years, South Suburban Christian Church has begun to experience transition due to the retirement of a well-loved Senior Pastor of 38 years. Although the future is bright, South Suburban Christian has experienced the normal opportunities and challenges congregations face during such a season of transition.
South Suburban Christian Church believes part of its mission is still undiscovered. Currently, South Suburban’s mission statement is: “To See people come to know Jesus Christ and together become passionate followers of Him”. They are solid in this statement, and eager to explore what God’s plan is as they work toward that mission on the road ahead.
|Position Description *|
|South Suburban Christian Church is looking for a Senior Pastor who has the ability to be an effective communicator and be able to facilitate effective communication within and on behalf of the church. Potential candidates must be rooted and grounded in scripture and able to interpret and apply the scriptures in ways that are appropriate to original and contemporary texts. Those interested must also know the purpose and elements of Christian worship; and, have the ability to plan and lead meaningful worship by working with the worship team, musicians, and congregational members. A strong teaching gift is also required in order to clearly and effectively equip people to apply faith to daily living. Candidates must also have an established commitment to spiritual disciplines with evidence of personal growth and a rich spiritual life. Finally, those applicants must have a proven track record of being able to engage others with empathy and the compassion of Christ– able to convey the healing power of God to those who suffer. At least 10 years of Senior or Associate experience and an M.Div. or equivalent is preferred.|
