NextGen Pastor
Northside Christian Church

New Albany, Indiana
Church Description *
Northside Christian Church (NCC) started with a hungry group of people who desired to follow Jesus and began by meeting in the basement of the founding elders’ house in 1970. What happened in the next 47 years can best be described by God’s grace and blessing to a people hungry for Him.

Whether it’s making an impact in the community, teaching about grace, or moving locations to gather, the elders at Northside have always taken risks to follow God, minister to hurting people or reach out to the lost. You’ll hear it often; their mission is to connect unconnected people to Jesus Christ.

As their third Senior Pastor in its 47 years, George Ross has brought a huge heart for growing a community where people can encounter grace, grow in that grace, and serve the surrounding community for the past 18 years. Last November the Elders made the exciting announcement that Nate Ross (George’s son) will succeed him as Senior Pastor in January 2018.

With much celebration for George’s investment and equal excitement for Nate’s vision for the future, this transition has been extremely healthy! Nate has been serving as the Associate Pastor (Executive) role for the past 5 years, and has been on staff for a total of 9 years. Before that he was a Student Pastor at Eastview Christian Church in Normal, IL.
His visionary and strategic leadership style along with his relational, yet challenging, teaching style will be key to Northside’s growth in the coming years.

NCC is a part of the restoration movement – a loosely associated “denomination” promoting individual autonomy among aligned ‘independent Christian churches’ that share common theology and doctrine. (Please visit: http://www.christianchurchtoday.com/who/ for helpful info)

Discipleship, evangelism and a commitment to being mission-minded drive this church. They believe that being His Church is an invitation of a lifetime and are praying for God’s provision through a ‘called’ creative arts leader to become a part of His greater story at NCC.

Position Description *
The NextGen Pastor is a new role, combining children’s and student ministry to one team. This ministry is in need of spiritual leadership and relational investment. They are ready to trust and be led, but a season of ‘connectedness’ is needed from a relationally strong leader who also understands how to engage and pastor a large ministry from through the staff. More time will be required to establish trust, and the rewards for the leader who invests in this way will be huge!

This leader needs to display humility and not be defined by their personality or past successes. What will matter to those on the team at NCC is that the person leading them is bringing value to their lives, walking with them, and contributing to the overall ministry impact of NCC. Lone rangers need not apply. This is a collaborative environment where opinions within this team are treated with respect, and overall ministry goals are never held hostage by egos and personal preference. They desire someone with a heart for discipleship that creates a culture where leaders can thrive. The leader who comes with a commitment to this will find great fulfillment in vocational ministry at NCC.

Northside Christian Church is a warm and welcoming community where vibrant ministry is happening, hurting people are being ministered to, and lost people are finding their way. This is a great place for a family to grow!

Here also is the chance to lead alongside an amazing staff with a commitment to excellence, creativity, and life-changing ministry. With the recent addition of Sam to the leadership team, there is an excitement to grow creatively, collaboratively, and cohesively as he builds a NextGen ministry that advances the mission and vision of NCC in new and compelling ways. Equally as exciting is the opportunity to lead this vibrant church body in journeying deeper into supporting parents. The staff is here for the right, committed, called, gifted, pastoral leader to thrive in long-term ministry.
