Position Description *
The Lead Minister at Second Church is to provide vision and leadership to the staff and the church body that aligns with the church’s mission to make Christ-centered disciples. They will embody and champion Second’s vision and philosophy of ministry to include a life of personal evangelism and personal devotion to Jesus Christ.
In conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team (Executive Minister and NextGen Teaching Minister), they will collaboratively develop, nurture, and communicate the vision and ministry strategy for Second with all staff, leadership, and the congregation. They will lead staff members to develop their ministry visions and strategies to ensure that yearly plans and goals support Second’s vision and philosophy of ministry. They will partner with the board of elders and senior leadership team to develop vision and long-term plans for staff and church.
A Master’s degree from an accredited seminary is preferred for this position, but a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Christian college is required. Previous experience as a Lead Minister is highly desired but not required. However, candidates must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in a supervisory, pastoral role within a large church.
