Great Lakes Community Church
Great Lakes Community Church (GLCC) is a dynamic and fast growing church located just north of Chicago in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Senior Pastor Dave Nelson, a Kenosha native, moved back to town in 2008 with a small group of folks to begin a church that would do things that others were not doing to reach those that others weren’t reaching. It began with a mailer deemed “too offensive” by the school district (which kicked them out). This set the tone for the last eight years, and so began Great Lakes Community Church. 600 showed up for the first public service.
In its eighth year, the church continues to reach those with no prior church experienced, and is now 1,800 strong. The future is bright, as the church has purchased property next door to the theatre it has continued to meet in, and has plans for a future facility.

To say this place is unique may be an understatement.
There’s nothing typical about a typical Sunday at Great Lakes Community Church. This church of 1,800 is spread over four venues that have live music at two different locations. Approximately 400 are at the Racine campus, which is 20 minutes north of Kenosha. The Racine facility is fairly new and was recently acquired from another church. It seats approximately 400.
The Kenosha campus is in the Tinseltown Movie Complex. The movie theaters are connected via video for message playback. The message, recorded at the Wednesday night service at their office/ministry complex, is played back in the venues. Pastor Dave preaches live in one of these four venues every Sunday morning.
This position is not easy, and is not for the faint of heart. It will not only take an excellent worship leader and musician, but also an achiever, a self-motivated driver, and someone who is as good offstage as onstage. There is a volunteer leadership team in place that is sharing the load of the weekly administration, shepherding, planning, and coordination. The next leader will need to come in and seek to understand the culture and all that is going on first, then make changes.
