First Baptist Dallas
|Church Description *|
|As a beacon of hope for Dallas and the world and with over 12,000 members, First Dallas’s influence and reach grows every day. The church is considered to be influential among evangelical Christians in the United States. It owns and operates an International Broadcast Ministry – Pathway to Victory; a school – First Baptist Academy; a radio station – First Dallas Media, Inc.; and supports Dallas Life, a mission for the homeless in Downtown Dallas. Senior Pastor, Dr. Robert Jeffress, recently led the congregation in a $135 million campaign to re-create its downtown campus. The project is the largest in modern church history and serves as a “spiritual oasis” covering six blocks of downtown Dallas.
The calling of First Dallas is to reach their city, nation, and world for Christ through four strategic courses of action:
|Position Description *|
|Each weekend, about 4000 people gather for worship in three services featuring two different expressions. The Celebration services are held in their new and beautifully designed worship center featuring choir and orchestra. The Day One worship service is a modern, more intimate, band-led service held in the historic sanctuary that has been updated to create an “ancient/modern” atmosphere. Song selections here are chosen from modern worship repertoire and played by highly skilled musicians. This service is attended by an average of around 650 people weekly, about 98% of whom are young adults who live in downtown Dallas.
The new Day One Worship Pastor will lead worship for and oversee all worship aspects of the Day One services and will also have responsibility for directing the student choir program at First Dallas. This person will also be considered a campus pastor for this venue and, as such, will help shepherd and host those who attend this venue. The qualified candidate as the Day One Worship Pastor will be a trained musician, proven worship leader, and strong vocalist with the ability to lead from an instrument preferred. The Day One Worship Pastor should see themselves as a pastor, not only a musician.
