ENCOUNTER Church is a thriving church with a rich history and an ever-evolving influence in the Ventura California community. Over the past 6 decades, they have seen gradual growth in their current location not too far from the center of this suburban beach town only 50 miles up the coast from Los Angeles. The most recent phase of their well maintained 5-acre campus was built in 1999 where an 800 seat auditorium was added. ENCOUNTER is a well-resourced campus, providing ministries for all ages from all walks of life. Which includes vibrant children and youth ministries and a well-respected preschool with over 200 children. Their wide range of ministries are designed to provide a place of comfort, hope, and restoration in Jesus for those who long for more to life in what can be a painful and empty journey. The Bible has always remained their source of ultimate truth and direction, as they embrace a mission to “ENCOUNTER God, Encourage Each Other, and Engage the World.”

Position Description *

This is a full-time position to pastor, develop and lead Community Life ministries for adults, with emphasis on small groups for young adults and families. Additionally, this role involves being a team teacher along with our Lead Pastor in our weekend services. Our vision is to disciple believers through small group participation who are Encountering God, Encouraging each other, and Engaging the world by expressing the six behaviors of worship, prayer, groups, serving, going, and giving.

PLANNING: Provide vision, definition of core values and determination of key goals for adult ministries in concert with the overall vision, priorities and goals of the church.

ORGANIZING: Develop and lead an organizational structure that will involve as many volunteers as possible in the ministry.

STAFFING: Recruit and train a leadership team that works with volunteers in every aspect of the ministry.

COACHING: Provide continual support and mentoring to the leadership team who will do the same for the volunteers.

TEACHING: Regularly preach in our weekend services as a part of the weekend teaching team.
