New Hope Christian Church
At New Hope Children’s Ministries is organized into nursery, preschool, and elementary. New Hope is committed to reaching kids and families in a dynamic way. Currently, they are utilizing D6 curriculum, but are open to making changes as needed. They are looking for a dynamic Children’s Pastor who can not only come in and be the face of the Children’s Ministry but can also lead the team and equip them to do the work of the ministry. A person with a strong desire and ability to lead will be the most successful here.
New Hope Christian Church is the largest evangelical church in town with 750 in average weekly worship attendance. “The need here is great,” says Senior Pastor Kerry Jech. “We know there are thousands upon thousands of folks starving for the Gospel in Marshalltown and beyond.” New Hope is looking to reach beyond in 2018, with another campus already chosen for its second location. “Since the options for Bible teaching churches in surrounding communities are slim, almost one-half of our attendees are driving in from out of town for worship.”
Pastor Kerry helped start New Hope 26 years ago to make a difference in advancing the Gospel in Marshalltown. “Our vision is that every person who calls this place home would be growing in their upward relationship with God, inwardly with their fellow believers, while also reaching out to those who don’t know Christ,” says Pastor Kerry.
New Hope reflects the city of Marshalltown. It is made up of multiple generations, people from all socio-economic levels, and various ethnicities and cultures that have migrated to the area. The church currently has one service on Saturday evening and two on Sunday mornings.
The staff culture at New Hope is very relational and fun. Pastor Kerry cares for his staff and encourages them to be open and honest with him and each other. He leads with a shepherd’s heart. New Hope is staff-led and includes a passionate group of elders. The new Children’s Pastor will report directly to Pastor Kerry and Elders.
New Hope has a very collaborative working environment. Their children and student ministry teams work together, sharing resources in order to reach students and equip parents to lead their children spiritually. There is plenty of room to explore new things as Children’s Pastor without fear of failure. People are valued, cared for, encouraged to grow and always strive to be their best. Evidence of this is the stability of the church and the long tenure of many of the staff and elders.
The staff is committed to their mission statement, “Pursuing God For The Benefit Of Others. Being The Church Wherever We Do Life.” This is evident in their passion to equip people to be the Church in their city, schools, places of work and home communities.
