WAY-FM Nashville is looking for a new Business Development Director (BDD) to help the network use media in a culturally relevant way to influence this generation to love and follow Jesus.
WAY-FM was founded in 1987 by Bob & Felice Augsburg with a single station in Ft. Myers, Florida. Today, WAY-FM is in 35 markets in twelve states, with 23 full power FM stations and 15 translators. Their latest acquisition in Dallas signed on in October 2015. They have a major digital presence on the Internet and are expanding their reach overseas as well.
The Nashville station (88.7 FM) was launched in 1992, followed by Clarksville (88.3) in 2003 and Bowling Green (88.1) in 2005. All are non-commercial. There are 22 full-time and five part-time employees officing there (who also serve the other two markets), and station revenues are projected to be $1.4 million this year. Of that, approximately $665,000 will from Business Impact Partners, which represents a growth of nearly 80% over the past five years.
Overall, there are 90 full-time and 20 part-time employees, with an annual operating budget of approximately $14 million ($9 million from listeners, $4.5 million from business support and about $500,000 from concerts and events).
WAY-FM broadcasts 24/7/365 and features unique, quality programming like The Wally Show during morning drive and CJ & Joy in the afternoons. The Brant Hansen Show is also heard each weekday in the mid-mornings. Each market feels localized, although much of the network’s programming originates out of their Nashville location. The messages are real, speaking honestly about not only the joys, but also the challenges and harsh realities of life … always providing hope and pointing people to the source of all hope, a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Its mission is to influence this generation to love and follow Jesus through culturally-relevant media by being Uplifting, Upbeat, Real.
The Business Development Director’s primary responsibilities are to bring business revenue to the Nashville/Clarksville/Bowling Green markets through the advertising of Business Impact Partners and by cultivating strong positive business relationships in the WAY-FM coverage area that can help the ministry grow.
The ideal candidate has a depth of experience and expertise in the key aspects of marketing, leadership, and advertising sales … preferably media advertising sales with some combination of TV, radio, outdoor, and digital/online/streaming. Experience with a faith-based organization would also be a plus. They need to be a driver – but also a TEAM player – who will fit the culture of WAY-FM overall and the Nashville office specifically. They are a leader who is detail-oriented, strategic, relational, able to forecast accurately, and who can serve as a public face and voice for the organization throughout the Nashville cluster. And they must be someone with a deep desire to sell and build client relationships … who can also close the deal!
